MOUSWALD held its gala day recently with the community getting together at the village’s school.
The event, which was planned by the school’s community group, took place in glorious sunshine on May 30.
A whole variety of stalls were out for the annual event which has been running for eight years.
Claire McFarlane, joint secretary of the school’s community group, said it was a fantastic day enjoyed by adults and children alike.
She said: “Everyone had a great time and the event always brings the community together. This year we were very lucky with the weather and a fantastic number of people turned out to support the event.”
The ever-popular gala provided plenty of entertainment with many stalls and competitions on offer including a tombola, home baking and face painting.
One of the other highlights of the day was a stall selling worm juice.
Enterprising children at the school have set up a wormery and were selling their “juice” as fertiliser.
Overall the gala raised more than £500 for the school.
Claire added: “All the usual gala games were on hand as well as some other treats. Pupils from the schools enterprise project sold painted horse shoes and the eco-school group sold worm juice which interested a few people.”
