Pipe band raises funds for Gifhorn

THE BUCCLEUCH and Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band has received an invitation to attend a festival in Gifhorn, Germany, in August.

To help with the costs, the band is holding a series of fundraising activities.

One recent night saw Davie Hogg go through the pain barrier by having his legs waxed to raise around £250.

Thanks are due to Mr J Ross and the regulars of the Farmers Arms, Thornhill, where the sponsored event took place.

The beautician for the evening was Miss Sarah Craig of Pampers, The Buccleuch Hotel, Thornhill.

“Sarah was very gentle with Davie who hardly flinched, which must reflect on her expertise,” said a spokesperson.

“A huge thank you to Sarah for supplying the equipment and giving her time free of charge to help the pipe band and to Davie for volunteering to undertake this treatment.”

The next fundraiser is to be a kwizoke fun night and auction on June 6 at Thornhill Community Centre. For more details contact any band member or Jane on 01848500208.
