Walkers face the Great Wall of China

TWO DUMFRIES nurses from the MacMillan Centre at Dumfries Infirmary have just returned home from a very special journey.

Chemotherapy nurse Alexa Clark and breast cancer nursing specialist Cathy Brown trekked along part of The Great Wall of China for the Breast Cancer Campaign and raised more than £10,000 in the process.

The pair were joined on the expedition by another 21 people including a group of teachers from a school in Ascot.

Cathy said: “We all helped to spur each other on and are hoping to be able to get another group together in two years for something similar, maybe Machu Picchu, in Peru.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported us and sponsored us.

“The majority of the donations have been made by the people and businesses of Dumfries and Galloway who have been amazing in their generosity. We trained hard to prepare ourselves for the trip, and it was a fabulous experience.”
