THE ANNUAL commemorative service at Brow Well was held on Wednesday night.
The event marked the visit of Robert Burns to Brow in July 1796 on the advice of his doctor to drink the Chalybeate water from the well in a vain attempt to cure his rheumatic heart disease.
The ceremony, held annually to commemorate Burns’ death, is arranged by the Southern Scottish Counties Burns Association and was due to be attended by Burns enthusiasts from all over Scotland.
Following a call to prayer and a scripture reading, the president of the Robert Burns World Federation, John Haining delivered an address and placed a wreath at the well.
The company then went to the Bruce Restaurant, Annan, for a social hour.
