Waterside Festival takes to the Greensands

AN innovative and spectacular waterside event takes place at the Greensands next weekend.

As part of the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival, this linked event called Waterside will blend music, physical theatre and community arts along the banks of the Nith on Friday and Saturday, June 8 and 9.

The magnificent Tide Machine will feature on both days and will premiere a new show.

Animated by the tide, this stunning feat of engineering provides a fantastical backdrop to the dramatic stories of the creatures emerging from their sleep.

Artist Alex Rigg and his colourful dancers of Oceanallover will give a mind-blowing performance on and off the Tide Machine.

Look out for Fish Out of Water, a new project by Conflux involving the community.

Spot fantastical fish, get serenaded by intrepid explorers and witness the amazing feats of the synchronised swimmers.

This new and exciting project involves up to 50 community performers who will create street theatre performances, who will perform alongside the Tide Machine.

Solo Voci, the exciting opera duo will be performing on the Greensands as part of this colourful weekend.

They are one of the most exiting operatic duos to emerge from the UK in recent years and are rapidly establishing themselves on the classical music scene.

Performances begin at 10pm on the Friday and 1pm on the Saturday.
