THE FULL orchestra of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra will be appearing for the first time at DG One in Dumfries on Saturday October 10.
They will be joined by Debra Stuart mezzo-soprano; James Nicol tenor; Piper Major Christopher Bone; young piper Andrew Brodlie; sisters Catrina and Marie Clark and Solana Johnstone of the Myra Shuttleworth Dance School of Springholm; and the Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary Pipe Band.
The event is part of as part of Scotland’s Homecoming linked with the 250th anniversary of the birth of the National Bard Robert Burns.
A spokesperson for the event said: “The programme will include the ever-popular Highland Cathedral and also the story in Scottish musical terms of Tam O’Shanter and Cutty Sark.
“It will be a varied enjoyable Scottish evening kept moving along with the inimitable humour of Jim McColl MBE (of Beechgrove Garden fame) – a truly family show.
“I am very much looking forward to taking part and introducing this now internationally known orchestra to Dumfries and Galloway.”
