Musicians sought for book festival

THE organisers of this year’s Stena Line Wigtown Book Festival want to find the best local amateur performers to pit their skills against visiting authors at Wigtown Book Festival’s Got Talent.

This event, hosted by novelist and festival trustee Glenn Patterson, is set to be one of the most popular events this year. Among the writers appearing will be multi-talented musician and novelist Louis de Bernieres and ballroom-dancing crime writer Catriona McPherson.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 26, at 8.30pm in the Bladnoch Distillery main hall.

Festival director Adrian Turpin said: “We know that Wigtownshire is full of people with untapped talent and we need to find it.

“Whilst Simon Cowell unfortunately can’t join us due to commitments in the Caribbean, we’ll be putting together a panel of eagle-eyed talent spotters.”
