AS part of its current tour, Edinburgh’s world famous home of new writing, the Traverse Theatre, will visit Dumfries with its critically acclaimed production of Midsummer.
First produced in Autumn 2008, the show was extremely well received by both audiences and critics.
It has recently received four nominations at the 2009 Critics Awards for Theatre in Scotland including Best Production and Best New Play.
Midsummer comes to the Theatre Royal, Dumfries on Friday, July 10, at 7.30pm.
This is a quirky charming love story co-written by leading Scottish playwright David Greig and Gordon McIntyre from Edinburgh-based Indie band Ballboy.
The show marks their first ever collaboration and stars Scottish actors Matthew Pidgeon as Bob and Cora Bissett as Helena (both pictured), who sing and play music throughout the show.
It’s Midsummer’s weekend in Edinburgh. It’s raining. Two 30-somethings are sitting in a New Town bar waiting for something to turn up. She’s out of his league and he’s not her type at all.
Midsummer is the story of Bob and Helena and a great lost weekend of bridge burning, car chases, wedding bust-ups, bondage miscalculations, midnight trysts and horrible hungover self-loathing misery.
The play is being brought to the Theatre Royal with assistance from the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Association and their associates.
Please note this production contains sexual content and swearing. Suitable for ages 14 and above.
