THE SUN came out for Torthorwald’s annual Scarecrow fun day on Saturday.
Dozens of people turned out to see a bumper number of specially made scarecrows.
And a whopping £800 was raised for the village.
Mike Currie, Torthorwald Scarecrow Fun Day committee chairman, said: “We had a record amount of entrants this year with 42 scarecrows.
“Everyone worked extremely hard and used their imagination.
“It was a fantastic day and the weather was also very good which made the day a further success.”
The whole village enjoyed the activities of the day which included an egg chuck, tug of war, cake and candy stalls and throwing wet sponges at loved ones.
The Corberry Park Pipers and highland dancers also made a special appearance.
The main event of the day was the judging of the scarecrows.
