A PENPONT couple have celebrated 60 years of marriage.
George and Catherine Smith held a party with family and friends to mark the occasion on Wednesday.
The doting couple, of Grennan Road, were married at Kirkpatrick Durham Church in Kirkcudbrightshire where they are both originally from.
George, 86, and Catherine, 83, met at a dance in Springholm in 1943 and dated for six years before tying the knot.
The pair have lived in their current home for what Catherine says is a “lifetime”.
She said: “We are originally from Kirkcudbrightshire but we have lived in the same house in Penpont since 1953. It feels like a lifetime ago we moved in.”
To mark the special anniversary they enjoyed a meal at the Penpont Arms.
