Saints fail to beat the weather

St Cuthbert Wanderers were foiled in their bid to get caught up on their fixtures last week.

Saints have played the fewest league games of any team in the south and had re-arranged a fixture with Heston Rovers that was cancelled earlier in the season.

But the latest attempt to get the game played also fell victim to the weather.

Saints boss Jim McCrossan said: “The ground was sodden – you can’t do anything about the weather but it’s been unbelievable lately.”

This weekend Saints are due to play Wigtown and Bladnoch in another league game and they’ll be pulling out all the stops to get the match on.

McCrossan added: “We’re trying to train but it’s difficult doing anything at this time of year and it’s not good.

“We’ll do everything we can to get the game on but obviously it’ll depend on the forecast.”
