Fleet Star eye up more players

FLEET Star have invited some more players in for pre-season as they continue the search for new recruits.

Manager Tommy Maxwell said: “We’ve got some more boys at training but we’re not rushing to sign anyone yet. They’re not tied up with anybody yet anyway. They’re young boys who haven’t been here before.

“We won’t be pushing them to sign as they’re playing pub football at the moment. They can train here and still play, but as soon as they sign they have to stop. The more games they play the better.

“Jordan Brown has left but all the rest from last season are either here or have packed it in entirely.

“There was a boy training with Threave because he didn’t know what was happening and he’s already signed on, which is a plus.

“The boys have done everything we’ve asked of them so far. We’ll work away quietly and maybe surprise everybody.”

Star are involved in a tournament at Heston this week with more friendlies arranged for next Wednesday and Saturday.
