New food festival for the region

FOOD lovers are expected to flock to the Stewartry later this year thanks to a new festival.

Flavour Taster – a four-day celebration of Dumfries and Galloway’s wide variety of locally produced food and drink – will take place in May.

Savour the Flavours is organising the event after discovering their annual Flavour Fortnight – held in autumn – boosts the region’s economy by around £200,000 a year.

Project manager, Liz Ramsay, said: “Flavour Taster gives us an opportunity to put quality local food and drink right at the heart of the tourism experience in Dumfries and Galloway.

“We have some truly world class products in this region, as well as inspirational people in the industry who are happy to share their passion with visitors to Dumfries and Galloway.

“Our hope is that Flavour Taster will help introduce foodies to Dumfries and Galloway and encourage visitors who are already here to discover the flavours of our region, and we hope it will encourage more visitors to return for longer breaks in the autumn to enjoy Flavour Fortnight.”

Flavour Taster is due to be held across the region between May 4 and 7
