Football charity calls on the Stewartry

A FOOTBALL charity which has been a hit in Dumfries plans to relaunch in the Stewartry.

Kevin McAdam’s Football First Fundraising has collected five bins full of footy gear including 300 pairs of boots, shirts, balls and other kit.

Now Kevin, originally from Castle Douglas, wants the Stewartry to follow suit after an e-mail error kept schools in the area in the dark about the last campaign.

Kevin said: “Stewartry schools never got part of my original e-mail, which led to a disappointing response. But I’m going down to the schools personally to hand in posters. Clubs have also been generous and I must thank Threave and St Cuthberts as well as everyone else who has given what they can.

“We already have plenty of kit, which is fantastic – but we want folk to keep it coming.”

It is hoped social workers and PE teachers could be asked to help distribute the gear to those who need it most.

Collections in the Stewarty will start on Wednesday and carry on for two weeks.
