SUNDAY, June 15, once again saw a very good turnout of guns at Burntkettle for the 50 DTL and 50 sporting shoot.
The focus this week was in the DTL veterans class who were shooting for the Roddy Dixon Veterans Cup which was won by Andy McLeod on 142/150 ahead on Bob Clark Snr on 139/150.
In the DTL it was Cumbrian Mark Casson with a fine 149/150 who took the Woodlands DTL Cup with John Bell runner up on 148/150 and Mervin Turkington on 147/150.
The ladies DTL was won by Barbara Clark with Ben Cowie taking the junior prize.
The sporting Woodlands Cup was won with one of the best performances to date at Burntkettle a fine 48/50 lodged by Paul Hutchison, in second was the in form Douglas Brown on 45/50 and tied third on 44/50 were Bruce Todd and Ben Cowie which was a fine score from the junior gun.
It’s happy days at Burntkettle SG. With the spectre of planning permission having been lifted it was full steam ahead for the 50 sporting and 50 DTL for the Tom Coates trophies on June 28.
In the DTL it was Jim Henderson with a maximum 150/150 who seen off all comers to take the trophy, with Biggar's Stevie Allan in second on 146/150 with John Peacock and Douglas Brown tied third on 142/150.
In the ladies DTL it was Jacqui Hunter who took the prize which just happend to be her first at that.
The sporting saw what was considered to be a harder layout, Peter Allison also showing fine form carded an unrivalled 44/50, ahead of Douglas Brown on 40/50 and a clutch of guns on 38/40 which included Billy Williamson, Jackie Brown, Roy McCowan and Stuart Dawson.
This weekend sees the Scottish DTL Championship and there are a few locals heading up to compete for the national title amongst them Ian , Chris and Mark Johnstone , Stephen Johnstone, Andy McLeod good luck to all of those competing.
