THE WEEKEND of June 13 and 14 saw a team of swimmers head to County Durham to compete at the Derwentside Swimming Club in their graded meet.
For most it was their first experience of a formal competition and competing away from DG One
The young swimmers performed very well, keeping their nerves under control and showing what a depth of talent there is within Dumfries Dolphins .
Fraser Lowther, aged 11, took silver in 400m individual medley (IM ) in a time of 7:03.87. Fraser went on to swim well and finish in the top 10 for all his other events in 100m and 200m IM; 100m and 200m backstroke; 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle.
Connor McClelland, 11, also collected a silver medal for his 200m freestyle in 2:40.07. Connor finished in the top 10 for five more of his swims, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke, 200m IM and 400m freestyle.
David MacGregor, 10, finished in bronze medal position in 100m IM in 1:34.42. David continued his form to finish in the top 10 in six more of his events, 200m backstroke; 50m, 200m and 400m freestyle; 200m breaststroke and 200m IM.
Alix Muir, 11, brought home the only girls medal finishing in bronze position in 200m breaststroke in 3:31.13.
Alix continued the successful run with top 10 placings in 200m and 400m IM; 100m, 200m and 400m freestyle and 200m butterfly.
Erryn Watson, 13, had her best finish in 400m IM finishing fourth in 6:49.90.
Erryn went on to place in the top 10 in 100m and 200m backstroke, 400m freestyle and 200m breaststroke.
Annabel MacGregor, nine, as the youngest team member was undaunted and took three top 10 place from 50m freestyle , 50m backstroke and 200m breaststroke.
Emily Hewitson, 10, continued the flow of top 10 finishes taking 9th in 50m butterfly and 10th in 200m IM.
