JMS Nunholm won their home Western Union Division 2 match against Anniesland on Saturday successfully chasing down their total of 123 with the loss of just three wickets
Despite the pre-match downpour the game started on time and the visitors were put in to face an Alexander and Alexander bowling attack.
Alexander senior delivered four consecutive maidens including a wicket bowled in his second over.
Fourteen year-old Niall Alexander also opened with a maiden and claimed his wicket in his third over as the number three succumbed to the run-an-over pressure and skied a catch for Williams to demonstrate good technique.
Two missed catches in the slips off Stuart Alexander reprieved Carrick and that was looking costly as he settled. However the key piece of fielding for Nunholm was a fine running catch at extra cover by Niall Alexander off Chris McCutcheon to dismiss him for 33.
The introduction of Davie Davidson also brought results as three wickets fell with the score on 66. One went LBW, Cross completed a sharp stumping and McCutcheon clung on to a lofted drive.
A badly judged run to Stuart Alexander off Davidson also brought a run out. However Hawkins was providing stubborn resistance and some late order boundaries boosted the score until Johnstone bowled Hawkins for 41 and Newport lined up the stumps to end the innings with the last man bowled and a final Anniesland tally of 123.
That total still had to be negotiated in potentially bowling friendly conditions and Anniesland still had hope when one opener was bowled with the score on 17.
However Farries was batting well and pushed the total along to 50 in partnership with Williams.
Davidson then made sure there were no slip-ups in the run chase with an assured 36 not out. Farries was out for 54 six short of the winning total which was comfortably passed for the loss of three wickets and with half the overs bowled.

Niall Alexander played two games for the Western Academy Junior side and bowled well opening the attack with nine overs one for 19 against a very experienced XL Club side.
