ALTHOUGH the Cally Palace ground was bathed in sunshine, completing an idyllic setting for a cricket match, unfortunately Nunholm failed to rise to the occasion as Galloway took their first scalps of the season.
Having won the toss, Galloway elected to bat and made a strong start with Chaudhary and Druce being instrumental in moving the score to 90 for three at drinks.
Skipper Geary then rang the bowling changes which gave Nunholm the initiative as Chris Bellwood delivered a blistering four maiden overs taking four wickets in the process.
He was ably supported by a number of bowlers including Niall Alexander who took the pivotal wicket of Druce during an excellent second spell.
However there was life in the Galloway tail as Bradley and Berry led a late surge to give the home side a challenging total of 151 at tea.
In reply, Nunholm’s innings, with the exception of young Dean Brotherston, was the stuff of damp squibs as they failed to generate a meaningful partnership with most batsmen failing to make double figures.
Struggling to adapt to a slow wicket and some tight bowling from Druce, Bradley and Gorman, only Adams, Rennie and Geary made any impact with Geary top scoring with 17 n.o. as Nunholm’s last wicket fell with a disappointing 100 on the board.
