AT ST BOSWELLS on Sunday APD Dumfries won the final of the Murgitroyd Borders 20/20 by a very convincing 10 wickets.
And as a result they are one of four Scottish teams contesting the semi-finals at the National final’s day at Shawholm in Glasgow on Sunday, August 3.
Dumfries won the toss and put St Boswells in to bat.
Ruthven and Glover started steadily and took the score to 22 after five overs when Maskrey claimed the first wicket.
Thereafter the wickets tally started to rattle up.
Stuart Alexander and Davie Davidson came on to bowl in tandem and six wickets fell for just four runs to reduce the opposition to 40 for eight in the 15th over.
Alexander took four wickets for five runs in his allotted four overs.
After a tight display in the field by Dumfries the innings closed in the eighteenth over for 56 all out.
The Dumfries reply started with a four from Scott Beveridge and continued in that fashion.
He took most of the strike to rattle up 42 not out in 30 balls.
Chris Bellwood faced just 11 balls for a supporting score of eight.
It took just seven overs to complete the win without losing a wicket.
The side is now left to contemplate what colour of ‘cricket pyjamas’ they are to wear at the national finals and whether they can add to the regional prize money earned from Sunday’s game.
