Rugby: Calcutta Cup at Moffat Tens

THE WORLD'S oldest Rugby Cup comes to the annual Moffat Rams Tens tournament which takes place at the Holm in Moffat tomorrow.

The cup was made in India and was first played for in 1879 when Scotland and England drew 3-3.

The first Moffat Tens game kicks of at 12 noon.

This year Magnox North (Chapelcross) are the main tournament sponsors and there is a line up of seven visiting teams including Creighton, Langholm, Newton Stewart, Dalkeith, Stewartry, Dumfries and Melrose.

There are two teams new to the competition this year — Creighton and their near neighbours Langholm. As usual there is a bar and BBQ all afternoon.

This year the Moffat Rams start their league season at 3pm on Saturday, August 30 with a home game against Shawlands.

The club is looking forward to welcoming both new and regular supporters on both days and throughout the season.
