THE County’s Texas Scramble, sponsored by John Cooper of W&J Dunlop, was held on Sunday, June 12.
The contest is played in teams of four off scratch from all sections of the club with the team balanced by the draw.
The scoring was once again very good considering the difficult conditions and that all the low handicap juniors were away playing in a Junior Open and the lowest handicap playing was off 5. There was a three way tie on 64, one 65, two 66s and three on 67. The winners on a count back covering the last five holes in level three’s were David Dalgleish, John Dickson, Kenny Swan and Evelyn Fairbairn.
There were two eagles one at the par 5, seventh hole where young Mark Porteous hit the green in two and Bill Reading holed the putt.
The shot of the day was by 11-year-old Daniel Irving 42 handicap who holed the second shot from 90 yards at the fourth for an eagle two, well done Daniel!
The clubhouse was full for the prizegiving which included the monthly prizegiving for the gents and juniors.
The gents prizewinners were: Greenkeepers Mug: Stephen Trotter not in Photo; Medal PGA Qualifier: Stuart Howat; Medal: Mike Rae; Stuart Syme Competition: Jim Coupland; Belhaven Medal: Craig Crosbie not in photo; Captain's Prize: Kenny Ferguson; Fred Allan Cup: Neil Reading, Bob Statham not in photo; Clubmaster's Tankard: Brian Dalziel not in photo.
The junior results for the month were: Darren Brown won the Medal on May 13, with 76-8= 68. He also won the Presidents Shield with 71-8=63.
Paul Crawford won the Crossflags Trophy with 89-25=64.
The Stuart Syme Competition was won by the Junior Captain, Daniel McConnachie with 68-1=67. Daniel is not in photo and the score of the month winning the Stubbs Cup was Connor Syme with 65-2=63.
Captain Stewart McCulloch thanked the sponsor John Cooper for his continued support, and also thanked the large turnout of members and friends for attending the prizegiving.
