THE Dumfriesshire Golf Centre is pleased to announce that it is now under new ownership and a regime of improvements is underway.
The gents toilet has already been refurbished and the ladies is next – the painter and decorators are in as we go to press and a dedicated lounge is being arranged where you can enjoy a coffee, tea or hot chocolate with a homemade cake or scone seated on comfortable sofas.
Food is all homemade by caterers Jane and Andrea with traditional winter soups followed by curry, chilli, lasagne, macaroni, fish and Sunday roasts.
A selection of hot rolls, cold rolls, spicy chicken, burgers and cheeseburgers are also available all day.
A full Scottish breakfast is also served till 12.30pm.
THE COURSE – Exciting times ahead for everyone with a new layout and new 12th green ready for the start of the season, along with defined sandy bunkers.
A programme brought together by head greenkeeper John Mair and his able team will see the course go from a par 68 to a par 70 over the next two years and the few remaining wet areas eliminated.
With the greens improving year on year a great and testing course is planned for you.
THE FACILITIES – To improve and compliment the existing buildings a new clubhouse is planned which would house the dining area, would be fully glazed and overlook the fourth, fifth and 18th greens.
A new shower room and changing rooms are already in place with some minor improvements needed.
MEMBERSHIPS – Both weekday and full memberships are available along with juniors and these can be paid by monthly direct debit. There’s no joining fee.
Contact the Pro Shop on 01387 247444 for details.
THE RANGE – New balls are already in the machine to allow you to have a better strike and feel when practising and we can assure you that these will be replaced on a regular basis. The bays will undergo refurbishment and provide new mats over the coming months again to provide you with an all round better facility.
THE SHOP – Gareth Dick has returned as a PGA professional and is offering a full range of clothing from Adidas, Stomberg and Lyle & Scott.
A new range of ladies and junior winter clothing is available now and ideal for Christmas.
Starter and junior golf sets are also available along with assorted footwear, golf balls and accessories.
TEACHING – Gareth is continuing with junior classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturdays and is looking to set up new starter classes, girls classes and ladies classes as well as one to one tuition. Anyone interested should contact Gareth, Craig or Ryan on 01387 247444 as classes may fill quickly.
Finally we would like to thank all existing members for their continued support and ask that you bear with us over the next 12 months as we make the improvements necessary to offer you a better all round facility.
