THE SOUTH of Scotland Junior Golfers entertained Durham in the Northern Counties Federation League at Moffat on Sunday.
Both teams entered the match undefeated.
After the morning foursomes the South found themselves behind by two matches to one, their only win coming from Danny McConnachie and Craig Hill
Knowing they had to respond quickly the boys got off to a great start, when Scott Wightman and John Innes squeezed through in the top two matches both by two and one.
In match number three Danny McConnachie had a comfortable four and three.
Kirkcudbrightshire Senior Strokeplay Champion Jordon Williams, playing in his first game secured the match by recording a four and two victory.
Craig Hill came from three down with five holes to play to win two up to put the icing on the cake.
Taylor Edward was defeated in match number six.
This was another good team performance by the boys, once again achieved without their two Scottish caps.
This shows the strength of the young squad which has 10 boys with handicaps of three and less, all ten are available for selection next year.
The team was supported by Scotland under 16 Internationalist Liam Johnston who had unfortunately been injured in a road accident en route to the Scottish Youths Competition at Renfrew.
It was a good weekend for the South as Kyle McLung finished in the top 20 in the Youths Tournament, where a field from various parts of the globe had assembled.
The South of Scotland Golfers Association wish to thank Moffat Golf Club for the use of the course and their hospitality.
