Golf: Campbell Cup

THE CAMPBELL Cup was played for at Southerness on a windy day with nasty showers in the morning.

There were 147 competitors on the day with D Stitt (Kirkcudbright) the winner with an excellent 72 (4) bih.

The scratch prize was J Graham (Lochmaben) 76. The field was divided into three classes:

First class: 2 J McInally (Powfoot) 72 (4); 3 M Lancaster (Thornhill) 72 (6); 4 S Sawers (Cawdor) 74 (4); 5 T McCormack (Prestwick St Nicholas) 74 (5).

Second class: 1 K Haddow (Thornhill) 72 (9); 2 K Potts (Dumfries & Galloway) 76 (10); 3 B Boyes (Southerness) 78 (10); 4 AF Robertson (Southerness) 79 (9); 5 E Kerr (Dumfries & Galloway) 80 (9).

Third class: 1 K Alexander (Milngavie) 74 (13); 2 W Gibson (Southerness) 75 (11); 3 R Weir (Brighouse Bay) 76 (11); 4 R Shepherd (Glen) 77 (14); 5 T Hanns (Ballochmyle) 80 (12).
