AN EXCELLENT entry of 87 gents braved the elements last Thursday to compete for the four cups available in the Moffat senior open stableford competition.
A few call offs due to the weather, and the unavailability of the buggies, did not impact on this keenly fought competition.
Alistair Little, captain, welcomed all to the prize giving and gave an appreciative vote of thanks to the greens staff for ensuring the course was playable after very heavy overnight rain. He also thanked Joy and Margaret for their administration of the competition, and all those who manned the table. Gratitude was also expressed to Jeff, Alan and Lisa for their part in this very successful day. Prizes were awarded as follows:-
Scratch - E. H. Gilchrist Trophy, Peter Boyd, (65)
Tormentil Trophy: 1 Michael Tiffin, Silloth, 42; 2 D Smith, Moffat 40; 3 R Sim, Lochmaben 37.
Queensberry Quaich: 1 Jim Mein, Moffat 40; 2 S Hartley, Silloth, 39; 3 D K Todd, Lochmaben, 37 b.i.h.
