Holt relishing title pressure after relegation blues
KEVIN HOLT has warned that his Queens’ teammates are relishing the pressure of being promotion favourites after a year of doom and gloom.
Queens will be the only full-time team in the Scottish Second Division and have been touted by many as the team to beat.
Left-back Holt, 19, said: “Despite there being a number of the same players it’s a completely different atmosphere in the changing room from last year.
“The pressure of getting promoted beats the pressure of a relegation battle.
“A lot of the boys were down all the time at training or thinking back to the last game which wasn’t good for team morale.”
The former Dumfries High School pupil, a lifelong Queens fan, is also relishing the prospect of squaring off against south west rivals Stranraer and Ayr United this season.
Kevin, who made his first appearance of the season last weekend against Dumbarton, added: “I think we’ve got a couple of derbies over the festive period which should be really good.
“Those games always brought a decent crowd in the past and hopefully it’s no different this year.”
