THE FUTURE is looking bright for Queens as their youth team won the Under-17s League Cup.
A determined team of Doonhamers dominated play at the Keswick Centre on Wednesday night – beating Queens Park 3-1.
And the scoreline could have been even better for the home side, but for some great goalkeeping from the Queens Park number one.
The home side took the lead with a brilliant effort from Ryan Smillie on the wing who chipped the keeper from a tight angle.
A second goal followed quickly for the home team when Steven Degnan coolly rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.
Before half-time Degnan scored his second and the home team’s third, when he headed home a cross after some brilliant wing play by Smillie.
The first half ended 3-0, and a second half goal from Queens Park brought the final score 3-1.
Queens won the cup and the celebrations began.
