Unbeaten home run ended by plucky Highlanders

Queen of the South 1 - 2 Ross County

QUEEN of the South paid the price after a sleepy start allowed Ross County to find the net twice in the first 19 minutes.

The Doonhamers - who were looking to make it six match unbeaten stretch at Palmerston - found themselves behind with only five minutes on the clock as veteran Craig Brewster threaded a pass through to Sean Higgins who ran in to slip it around Lee Robinson.

And the visitors double their advantage in 19 minutes when Brewster picked up the ball 25 yards out and hammered home a drive into the roof of the net.

A fired-up Queens side reduced the deficit a minute into the second half as Stephen Dobbie slammed in an angular drive but despite a much better second half performance, they couldn't breach Joe Malin's goal line for the equaliser with the stopper making a couple of vital late saves.
