DOONHAMER fans will get a rare chance to live their boyhood dreams by playing football at Palmerston later this year.
Queens are offering fans of the club the chance to join one of two teams who will be playing in an end-of-season friendly on the famous pitch.
Each starting and substitute position is currently up for grabs, with the place going to the highest bidder in an online auction.
The minimum bid for each starting position is £50 and £30 for a substitute.
Each member of the two teams will change in the club’s dressing rooms and then make their way up the tunnel to the hallowed turf like so many Queens heroes before them.
Queens’ commercial manager, Mark McMinn said: “It’s the first time we’ve tried it.
“It’s been done by a lot of other clubs before and certainly early interest seems to be high.
“We’re expecting the forward positions will go at the highest prices — everyone wants to be the star striker!
“Fans go and watch Queens play every week, well this is a chance for them to see what it’s like and get a shot at glory.”
Bidding started on Monday and will run until Friday, April 24.
The match will be played on Friday, May 8 — the day before Queens final match of the season away to Livingston and the fans fancy dress day.
Queens will be without a game this weekend as most of the division takes a break.
They will return to action at Palmerston next weekend where they take on Ross County.
But in the meantime there will still be plenty to shout about, with Scotland taking on Holland in their World Cup Qualifying match.
