Dedicated Queens club servant

JOHN Paterson is, without doubt, a true Queens man.

For 25 years he has been a loyal servant at Palmerston Park, dedicating his free time to the club.

He’s the man who set up the club shop after a discussion with former director Bill Jardine about giving the club an extra source of income – and he still runs it to this day.

And John, 73, has also been heavily involved in the production of the match day programme.

Queen of the South chairman Davie Rae was full of praise for John, whose only payment is being allowed to be involved in the club he loves.

Mr Rae said: “It is a well-deserved merit of recognition that John should feature as the club marks it’s 90th anniversary.

“He has worked with the club for 25 years, set up the club shop and built it up from nothing.

“It was his vision to set it up, he was the instigator.

“He is a dedicated Queens man, he’s unpaid and just does it for the love of the club.”
