Queens too put up hard fight

IN-FORM Queens head to Broadwood today to take on a struggling Clyde in a match that could push the Doonhamers as far up the table as fifth or dump them down to eight.

And Queens boss Gordon Chisholm knows how important this game will be in his side’s bid to steer clear of relegation.

Chisholm said: “The worst thing we could do is think we’re out of the relegation fight.

“There’s still plenty of things that can happen this season.

“Clyde will be looking to pull us right back into it, and we’re wanting to put as much daylight as we can between ourselves and the bottom teams.”

And although Clyde have only won a single game in their last eight matches, Chisholm knows the Wee Bully will be no push-over.

He said: “I watched Clyde lose to Airdrie last weekend, and they were quite unlucky.”

“Broadwood is always a hard place to go but we did beat them 2-0 up there in September.

“But having said that, they got their revenge by defeating us by the same score down at Palmerston.

“At this stage of the season, every team is fighting, so it won’t be easy.

Queens head to Broadwood in fine form, having scored eleven goals in their last four games and looking to continue their excellent run which has seen them lose only one of their six matches of 2009.

The team’s goal scoring has impressed Chisholm.

“What’s most pleasing is that goals have been coming from all over the park.

“There’s been goals from Burns, Wilson, Harris and Weatherston as well as from the front line.

“And Dobbie’s goal on Saturday was worth the admission price alone!”

Queens go into tomorrow’s game with David Weatherston as the only player likely to be unavailable, as the pacy winger has been struggling with a groin strain.
