QUEENS supporters will have the chance to see their side on the small screen next month.
But fans watching the match may have to brush up on their Gaelic, as the commentary will be in the language.
The BBC digital channel Alba will be showing live coverage of the St Johnstone v Queens match in April.
The game will be the third of three First Division fixtures the channel is showing, and Queens Chairman Davie Rae supports the move.
He said: “It is certainly an interesting one. I really hope it is a success.
“They’ve chosen what should be a good game.
“We’ve a good travelling support and I hope it’s good weather for the match.
“It’s a new venture and it’s good news for the division and the club.
“Running a football club is going to become increasingly more difficult in the future, and we need to find ways to generate support and money.
“So it’s a good venture and I hope it goes from strength to strength.”
The date of the match has been moved from Saturday 18, to Sunday, April 19 to accommodate Alba.
It is hoped that the coverage will help top promote the Gaelic-language television channel
Rae said: “I’ve never heard a match commentated in Gaelic, but I have heard people sing in the language.”
And maybe, in future, supporters in the stands at Palmerston Park will be singing Queen of the South songs in the ancient tongue.
