Queens take chance to avenge controversial defeat

QUEENS will be looking for revenge when they take on Dunfermline this weekend, with memories of the injustices of the last clash still fresh in the mind.

Last time round, a controversial late goal gave the Pars all three points and left Queens fans, players and management fuming.

And Palmerston chairman Davie Rae is hoping his side can show more of the fighting spirit they had during last weekend’s draw with Partick Thistle.

He said: “This is a game we really need to get something from.

“We need to show the hunger and enthusiasm we did in the last game.

“We’re in a real battle now, and we have to start picking up points.

“I always say you need to win your home games and draw away.

“We need to start putting that into practice.”

Queens’ draw against Thistle ended a losing streak of four straight home defeats.

And with only a single point keeping the Doonhamers off the bottom spot, they will feel they must take something from tomorrow’s game.

Queens were involved in a bounce game against Celtic on Wednesday afternoon.

The Doonhamers ran out 2-0 winners, with goals from Stewart Kean and Andy Aitken.

Rae added: “We know it wasn’t Celtic’s strongest eleven, but it will be another confidence boost for the lads.

“Hopefully we can take confidence from last Saturday’s draw and Wednesday’s win and get something this weekend.”
