QUEENS’ have announced 2008 as the most profitable year in the club’s history.
And the side’s financial success looks set to translate into improvements at Palmerston.
A stunning cup run, high merchandise sales and strong crowd attendance led to Queens recording their biggest-ever profit margin over the last 12 months.
And some of the money raised looks set to go towards building a new stand at the Terregles end of the stadium.
Chairman Davie Rae held Queens’ annual AGM on Tuesday, which was also attended by a record number of shareholders.
The club recorded a £535,000 profit over the last year.
And the club shop has also enjoyed the year, having made record merchandising sales of £139,000, which is included in the club’s total profit.
Davie Rae said: “It’s been a phenomenal year.
“It is very hard to make a profit in football, and we’ve done extremely well.
“Never has the club brought in so much money, and it really is great to see.”
It was also mentioned at the AGM that discussions were being held with the council regarding site of the former Tesco supermarket adjacent to Palmerston, which Queens own.
