QUEENS’ boss Gordon Chisholm was left fuming after Doonhamers favourite Gary Arbuckle suffered a multiple leg-break during the Morton game.
Arbuckle was scythed down by Morton defender Dominic Shimmin in the 81st minute and stretchered off.
And Chisholm didn’t hold back on his criticism of the challenge.
He said: “The injury says it all – Gary’s leg is broken.
“I am not saying it was intentional, but it was certainly not a normal tackle.
“I had seen him going in twice in the second half by taking everything out, the ball goes first and his momentum follows through on Gary.
“He wasn’t going to miss him.”
But the Doonhamers will miss Arbuckle, who won’t play for the rest of season.
Morton’s centre half Shimmin said: “There was no intent and I just went in with one leg and he sort of buckled in between my two legs.
“This is terrible and I have never ever gone to injure anyone.
“I am not that type of player.”
Queens have been suffering from injuries since October, with numerous long-term injuries and a flu epidemic in the team’s dressing room.
Those problems have translated into poor form on the pitch, with the Doonhamers going nine games without a win.
Chisholm added: “I am absolutely gutted for the boy.
“He has suffered breaks to the tibia, fibula and another just below the knee.
“Poor Gary will now be out for the rest of the season and it is a terrible blow for him and the team.”
