Former Gretna Owner Brooks buried

QUEEN of the South chairman Davie Rae was among the mourners who paid their last respects to former Gretna owner Brooks Mileson at his funeral on Monday.

Mr Rae was joined by ex-Gretna players David Nicholls, Andy Smith, James Grady, David Holdsworth and Derek Townsley as well as former manager Davie Irons at the service in Staveley.

Brooks, aged 62, collapsed and died almost three weeks ago in the garden of his home near Carlisle.

Reverend Geoffrey Watson said he would be remembered for “Gretna’s great rise then the sad end to it all”.
