QUEEN of the South’s phenomenal Scottish Cup run last season, which opened the door to a European adventure, is history.
Memories are still fresh but they have a nasty habit of fading.
That, however, need not be the case for Queens’ fans.
From next month they will be able to get their hands on a magnificent record of the whole journey.
Freelance photographer Kenny Ramsay captured it all, from start to finish, and now he tells the story in a new book: “Passport to Europe” Pictures and Stories from Queen of the South’s Incredible Cup Run, 2007-08.
It’s all there from Peterhead and Linlithgow Rose to Ryan McCann’s amazing goal, that incredible semi-final against Aberdeen and the oh-so-close final against mighty Rangers.
A slice of Danish rounds it all off.
With some 350 colour pictures there’s a good chance Queens fans will find themselves featuring in the book that goes on sale from a unit in the Loreburne Centre on Monday, November 24.
Kenny is hoping there will be couple of book signings in the shop during the first week although details have still to be finalised.
The place will however host a photographic exhibition of prints from the book, signed by players, which will be raffled at the end of the week to raise funds for the club.
Kenny added: “I am also putting together a limited edition dvd of well over 1,000 Queens pictures, around 900 of which did not make the book. I hope to give away around 1,000 signed pictures of ten prints in the book.
“When someone buys the book they can also choose a signed print to take with it. In this connection I am going to meet Ryan McCann in Morecambe to arrange the signing of his 84-yard goal picture.
“The book is looking superb and I can’t wait to get it launched.
“As Steve Tosh said: ‘You only need to look at this to bring back the feel good factor’. I hope that people really enjoy it in years to come.”
