Your chance to win Queens book

A NEW book telling the story of the Queen of the South football club has been published - and we are offering Standard readers the chance to win a copy.

In the book, Queen of the South: The History 1919-2008, Dumfries man Iain McCartney covers the period from the club’s inception to the present day.

McCartney narrates the full history of the Doonhamers, beginning with the formation of the first team shortly after the First World War.

The story dives head first into the ups and downs, the promotions and relegations, that have made the history of Queens such an exhilarating journey.

The Queens book was originally published four years ago, but has been updated by the author and re-vamped by UK publisher Breedon Books for the re-printing, and has many new and previously unseen photographs added.

We have three copies of the book up for grabs - just simply answer the following question:

What is the name of Queen of the South’s ground?

Put your answers on a postcard along with your name, address and daytime contact number and send it to:

QOS Book Competition, Dumfries and Galloway Standard, Maxwelltown Industrial Estate, Glasgow Road, Dumfries, DG2 0NA.

Closing date for entries is Friday, October 3.

Usual Standard competition rules apply, a copy of which can be obtained by writing to the Editor at the above address.
