DAVIE Rae insists not only one but two men were offside before the controversial Falkirk goal that denied Queens a place in the quarter-finals of the Co-operative Insurance Cup.
The Palmerston chairman was reeling after seeing highlight’s of Steve Lovell’s 73rd minute winner on television.
The referee turned down claims by Queens players that the goal which let Falkirk win Tuesday’s game 2-1 should have been disallowed.
But Rae says the replays prove that both the linesman and referee got it wrong.
He told the Standard: “The fact is that there was not just one but two men offside and now we are out of the cup because the referee and the linesman didn’t see it.
“The goal should simply not have stood.
“We should be in the draw for the quarter finals and at that round you start to get bigger financial rewards.
“That is unfortunate for the club.
“It’s not so bad being knocked out when you are beaten fair and square but the television highlights proved beyond all doubt that it was offside.
“And in particular there was not just one man offside, it was a case of having two men offside.
“The camera does not lie.”
