QUEEN of the South’s youth team is being put through its paces by a local gym.
Bannatyne’s Health Club has teamed up with Queens to deliver fitness tests to their youngsters.
The fitness tests, for the under 13s, 14s and 15s, include testing the players sit up and press up abilities. Their weight and height is recorded and monitored, as is their lung capacity.
Bannatyne’s is also offering the players nutritional advice from its team of fitness professionals.
Edinburgh Road-based Bannatyne’s will be continually monitoring the players throughout the season and helping them in their fitness development.
Colin Macgillivray, general manager of the health club said: “Focussing on living a healthy lifestyle should begin at a young age.”
Andy Irving, Queen of the South FC youth coach added: “The fitness tests at Bannatyne’s are part of our support programme for the players.
“This gives them more than just football skills, but helps them focus on their general healthy lifestyles and how their wellbeing can influence their performance”
