Queen of the South book launch

A DUMFRIES man is to launch a new book telling the story of the Queen of the South football club.

In the book, Queen of the South: The History 1919-2008, Dumfries man Ian McCartney covers the period from the club’s inception to the present day.

McCartney narrates the full history of the Doonhamers, beginning with the formation of the first team shortly after the First World War.

The story dives head first into the ups and downs, the promotions and relegations, that have made the history of Queens such an exhilarating journey.

This is author Iain McCartney’s 13th book, with some of the other titles under his belt being the biographies of Duncan Edwards and Roger Byrne and autobiographies of Kevin Ratcliffe and Norman Whiteside (both ghostwritten).

The latter two and the Roger Byrne title all made the Top Ten in the Sports Best Sellers charts.

The Queens book was originally published four years ago, but has been updated by the author and re-vamped by a major UK publisher for the re-printing, and has many new and previously unseen photographs added.
