THE HUNDREDS of Queens’ fans who travelled to Denmark for the Doonhamers’ UEFA Cup clash have been praised for their good behaviour.
Around 850 supporters made the journey to Farum and spent much of their time before and after the game soaking up the atmosphere in the Danish capital Copenhagen.
While things might not have gone quite to plan on the pitch for the Doonhamers, off it they couldn’t have run more smoothly.
Danish Police Inspector Rune Hamann said: “It was a pleasure hosting such a visit by Queen of the South whose supporters were extremely well behaved and a great credit both to their club and to Scotland.
“I am pleased at how well the event passed overall and thank Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary for the invaluable assistance and cooperation in making the event pass so smoothly.”
Chief Inspector Mickey Collins from Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary, who accompanied the team and supporters to the game, said: “The travelling Queens’ supporters were an absolute pleasure to work with and were great ambassadors for the club and the local region.
“Despite the huge numbers of supporters who travelled to Denmark there were no arrests, incidents or issues of any concern and great praise should be passed on to those fortunate enough to be at the match.
“Copenhagen was very much the place to be on Tuesday, but as we have seen previously, particularly at Hampden in May, Doonhamers should be proud of how well they travel in support of a great club.”
