A FREELANCE photographer is publishing a book charting Queen of the South’s fantastic Scottish Cup run.
Kenny Ramsay followed the club’s fortunes from Peterhead to the Hampden final on assignment for newspapers.
And he joined fans on Tuesday’s tip to Denmark for the historic UEFA Cup clash with FC Norsdsjaelland.
The book, Passport to Europe, contains nearly 350 pictures and more than 100 stories from fans, as well as interviews with manager Gordon Chisholm and chairman Davie Rae.
Greenock-based Kenny, a Morton fan, said: “It really is an unmissable souvenir for anyone associated with Queens.
“The chairman, manager and players saw a proof of the book on the plane to Denmark and were delighted to say the least.”
The idea for the book was born when Kenny snapped Ryan McCann’s 84-yard wonder goal in the quarter-final clash with Dundee at Palmerston Park.
He said: “I thought if they could get a decent draw they might just get to the final. All the pictures just seemed to fall into place after that.”
Kenny was on hand to record the magnificent 4-3 semi-final win over Aberdeen and travelled to Marbella with the team as they prepared for the final with Rangers.
He said: “If they had been beaten 5-0 by Rangers I probably would not have done the book but we had the spell when they scored two goals – every game seemed to have magical moments.
“I went to the parade on Sunday and it was great. There was such a mass of people. I’m a Morton fan so I know what it would have been like for my team going on that kind of run.”
Kenny added: “I got to know the players well out in Marbella. They're legends in Queens’ history and that was a big part of my decision in bringing out the book.”
Passport to Europe is being printed in Shanghai and is due to be delivered to the UK on October 21.
A website for the book, which has been produced in association with the Palmerston club, will be up and running from this Monday http://www.jambookpublishing.com/QOS.html and pre-orders will be taken from then with supporters having the option to collect their book from the club shop at Palmerston or delivered to their door.
