QOS UNDER 15s squad returned home on Friday from their week-long visit to the prestigious Milk Cup competition in Northern Ireland, having finished in their highest-ever position, a very credible fifth out of 24 teams.
They won four (one on penalty kicks) and lost only once to one of the competition favourites Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Queens’ first game on Monday was a very good 2-1 success over Championship team Plymouth Argyle. McHarrie and Thompson were the scorers for Queens.
Tuesday saw Queens face Irish team Dundalk, running out very easy winners by six goals to one, with Middlemiss (3), Abdul (2) and Steele finding the net.
These two wins saw Queens move into the top eight and on goal difference top of the 24 at this stage.
Wednesday saw Queens lose their only game, going down by 2-0 to Wolves.
Queens’ opponents on Thursday were another Irish side, County Armagh, who they defeated 3-2, with goals from Reilly (2) and Thomson.
The final game for Queens on Friday was against Club Jorge Griffa from Argentina. drawing 1 1, Reilly the scorer for Queens.
In the penalty shoot-out, Queens won by 4-1, to ensure their fifth place finish. Queens’ keeper Rajovic was the hero saving two spot-kicks.
