GRETNA take on high flying Vale of Leithen tomorrow, in the club’s biggest challenge this season.
Both sides have convincingly won their opening three fixtures, topping the East League table separated only by goal difference.
And for Gretna boss Stuart Rome, this is their toughest match so far.
Speaking to the Standard, Rome said: “I’m delighted with how the season has gone so far.
“I’m very happy with the three wins out of three.
“But this weekend will be a different kettle of fish all together.
“It’s definitely the hardest match we’ve had so far.”
Four teams are level at the top of the table, with Gretna, Leithen, Stirling and Craigroyston all on nine points.
And Rome thinks those four will be battling it out come the end of the season.
Rome added: “That’s what makes this such an important game.
“It’s against these teams that promotion will be won and lost.
“Away from home a draw or a win is a good result, but we’ll be going for the three points.”
Gretna came away with all three points at Hawick RA in their Wednesday night game.
Both it wasn’t all plain sailing against the side sitting bottom of the division, with the borders side leading 1-0 at half time.
But a spirited fightback from the Black and Whites saw them run out 3-1 winner, with goals from Milligan, McMath and Rea.
Gretna captain Tony Nicolson is set for a comeback after making a full recovery from swine flu.
