South games hit by the weather

RESULTS from Saturday: SFA Regional Cup (East Section) - Second Round; Spartans 2 Edinburgh City 1

SFA Regional Cup - (South Section) - Second Round: Gretna 3 St Cuthbert Wanderers 0

The SFA Regional Challenge Second Round Cup Tie (South Section) saw the East of Scotland side Gretna go through to the last eight with a three goals to nil victory over St Cuthbert Wanderers. This was the only match that went ahead in the South of Scotland on Saturday with all the others becoming the latest victims of the adverse weather.

In the only match played in the East Section of the cup, Spartans, who are one of the favourites to win the competition, recorded a narrow two goals to one victory over Edinburgh City.

Off the park there has been action though at Islecroft where an ex- senior player at Dalbeattie Star Keith Dingwall has been appointed interim manager of his former club. His first match in charge would have been against neighbours Threave Rovers in the Regional Cup at Meadow Park on Saturday but weather put paid to the match.

Paul Menlove, who managed the side since the beginning of the season taking over from Gordon Holt, has vacated the post for personal reasons.
