Eight of the team also formed the backbone of the Dumfries and Galloway Regional team that won the National Trophy for the first time in the local Association's history.

The trophy was presented by the SSFA's guest Mr. Lex Gold CBE, Executive Chairman SPL to player Grant Middlemiss.

The Dumfries Academy team continued their unbeaten run in 2009 and lifted the under 16 Shield in an exciting final with St. Ambrose High.

The SSFA also recognised the contribution of parent volunteer Keith Middlemiss to the success of both the Dumfries Academy team and the Regional team.

Keith was also presented with his award by the Executive Chairman of the Scottish Premier League, Lex Gold CBE.
