DALBEATTIE STAR have a tough trip to Whitehill Welfare in the League Cup quarter final tomorrow.
Last time the sides met was in a 0-0 draw in the East League at the end of February.
And match secretary Kenny Murray is expecting a real battle with the Rosewell side.
Murray said: “When we played them last, it was a tight game.
“We played well and created chances, so we know we can will.
“They’ve hit a sticky spell, but there’s never a good time to play Whitehill - they’re a top side.”
Star and Whitehill are two of only four Premier Division sides left in the competition, and they are the two highest placed sides in the league.
But despite that, Murray would not accept his side were the competition favourites.
He said: “It’s hard to tell who the favourites are.
“There’s tough opposition out there and someone must have beaten Spartans.
“We’ve definitely got a chance, but we need to beat Whitehill before we look at anything like that.”
While Star do battle in the League Cup, title-rivals Spartans are in action in the Easy League against Heriot-Watt University.
Spartans have two games in hand over the Dalbeattie side and only sit a point behind them.
But Murray insists he won’t be paying much attention to the Spartan match.
He said: “There’s nothing we can do about Spartans at the moment.
“We’ve still got a chance to win the league, and we’ve just got to keep winning games.
“Hopefully they’ll slip up again, but really we need to keep winning.
“If we can get it down to the last game [when we play Spartans] anything can happen.”
Star have two remaining matches in the league - against Coldstream and then Spartans.
