JUST 10 months ago Henry McClelland was driving to Hampden Park on tenterhooks hoping Annan Athletic would get accepted into the Third Division.
Yesterday the chairman made that 150-mile round trip again – to a meeting about the end of season play-offs which his side looks set to feature in.
It’s an unbelievable journey for the league new boys and McClelland knows just a point from their match against Forfar tomorrow could consolidate their fourth-place play-off position even further.
He told the Standard: “Ten months ago I was going up to Hampden to see if we were getting in the league, but the hard facts are, that 10 months on, I’m going up here for a normal management meeting where they will be discussing the play-off draws and we could be in it. It is incredible.”
McClelland is targeting at least a point from Forfar tomorrow who are chasing them in fifth place.
He added: “There is no pressure on our lads to finish in the play-offs but they want it now.
“It will be a hard game at Forfar but if we can get a point we will stay in fourth.”
