Annan prepare for first game

ANNAN Athletic have moved into top gear in the build up to their historic opening match in the Third Division.

The Scottish Football League’s newest side is pulling together preparations for August 2 – the day of its league opener away to Cowdenbeath.

It’s been a busy week for everyone associated with Annan as the reality of what was achieved by winning the vote to enter the SFL at Hampden last week is realised.

The club have been agreeing terms with a number of players including talented former Carlisle winger Lee Hoolikin.

The 25-year-old was one of the first to sign an SFL contract at Galabank.

They have also tied longest serving player, Chris Jardine, to a two-year contract.

More players are expected at the club in the coming week.

Annan are also set to take delivery of their floodlights on July 28 which will seal another key date in the club’s SFL preparations.

Turnstyles and a new perimeter wall to the west of the clubhouse will also be in place very soon.

And they are appealing for help from local builders who want to support the building projects to get in touch with them.

Meanwhile, new strips are on order for the Galabankies with merchandise and sponsorship deal in the process of being tied up.
